- General Motors launches a new car sharing project
This summer, General Motors is launching a new test project for short-term car rental. The idea will be implemented on the basis of the previously launched car sharing service Maven. The platform will operate on the principles of the Airbnb housing rental service, the essence of which is to establish direct contact between the client and the lessor. The services are intended exclusively for individuals. After registration, any user will be able to list their car for rent. The amount of commission charged to the lessor and the client, as well as the requirements for private cars, are not yet known. At the moment, Maven rents out vehicles only from GM. In addition, taxi services Uber and Lyft cooperate with the car sharing operator. The new function will provide the auto giant with access to private cars, which will help significantly expand the Maven fleet without much expense. As you can see, General Motors does not stop and is constantly expanding its scope of activities. The automotive giant does not want to stop only at the production of vehicles and is actively developing
car rental. Maven was launched by GM in early 2016. The company's mobile app allows remote control of some car functions, such as temperature control and engine start. The rental cost is about $6 per hour.
