- Joint car sharing from BMW and Daimler
Recently, a rumor has been circulating in the world of the automotive industry that Daimler AG and BMW are going to merge their car sharing services Car2Go and DriveNow, as a result of which the newly formed enterprise will receive a single independent management. It is highly likely that this decision was made in order to combat the Uber service, which has flooded the entire planet with cheap, but at the same time low-quality services, which are increasingly receiving complaints. Car2Go is a project launched by Daimler AG. With its help, a car enthusiast can rent various models of Mercedes-Benz and Smart cars for a short term. The company's fleet consists of more than 14,000 vehicles, which are located in 26 cities in Europe, the USA and China. The DriveNow project appeared years later - in 2011. At the origins of the company were the BMW corporation and the small Sixt company, which was engaged in rental. Currently, the company's
car fleet includes 6,000 cars that are actively rented out in Europe. As part of this merger of the two organizations, the new company will receive fresh software from BMW. We are talking about the ParkNow application. It is worth noting that ParkNow is a relatively new interactive service from BMW, which allows motorists to quickly find free parking spaces for their vehicles. Moreover, the technology covers not only parking spaces, but also areas near the curb. It is also possible to link other popular services present in the packages of famous car manufacturers. Let us remind you that car sharing services are rapidly developing all over the world. And Ukraine is no exception. In many large cities of the country, you can already find quite practical and developed networks of
vehicle rental on favorable terms for customers.
