General Motors Launches New Car-Sharing Project

13.03.2018 в 15:01

Starting this summer, General Motors launches a new pilot project for short-term car rental. The idea will be implemented on the basis of the previously launched car-sharing service called Maven. The platform will be functioning according to the principles of lodging-rental service Airbnb, aiming to establish direct contact between a renter and an owner. The services are for private individuals only.

After signing up, any user will be able to place their car for rental. For now, there is no information about the fee charged from the owner and the renter, and also about the requirements to the cars owned by private individuals.

Today Maven offers only GM vehicles for rental. Moreover, taxi services Uber and Lyft are parnters with the car-sharing operator. The new feature will provide the auto giant with an access to private cars, which will significantly expand the Maven car fleet at low cost.

As you can see, General Motors never stops expanding its services. The auto giant does not intend to limit itself only to vehicle manufacturing that is why the company actively introduces car rental services.

The service Maven was launched by GM in early 2016. The mobile app allows remotely controlling some features like temperature mode and engining start. Car rental costs about $ 6 per hour.
