A new car-sharing service called GetmanCar was introduced to the capital of Ukraine in January 2018. At the moment, there are a hundred of Ravon R2 cars, produced by Uzbek brand, in the fleet of the new company. Also, there are several Skoda Fabia. The prospects for the development of this enterprise are rather tempting, considering the company has no competitors either in Kiev or throughout Ukraine.
In December of last year, GetmanCar operated in test mode – there were 30 vehicle units on the city streets. In January, there were 70 more of them.
Price List
The company offers per-minute and per-hour tariffs: 6 UAH and 60 UAH respectively. There are also rates including CASCO (CDW) and TPL coverage:
- Per-hour – 79 UAH including the mileage of 50 km;
- Per-day – 1199 UAH (without CASCO (CDW) and TPL coverage) including the mileage of 100 km.
If a car gets into an accident, customer’s maximum deductible amount will be 20,000 UAH.
There is a special tariff called “Young driver” for drivers with less than 4 years of driving experience. This tariff includes CASCO (CDW) and TPL coverage but it requires paying an obligatory deposit of 10,000 UAH. If the driver gains trust within the first 3 months, then he or she will have an opportunity to switch to another tariff that doesn’t require paying any deposit.
At the moment, the cost of car-sharing services is comparable with those of a taxi.
Requirements and Signing Up
You can sign up online: to do so, you will need a Ukrainian passport, driver’s license and identification number. GetmanCar requires their customers to be 25 years old and over, and to have at least 5 years of driving experience.
Citizens of other states also have an opportunity to use Ukrainian car rental services. To do so, foreigners will have to pay the obligatory deposit of 10,000 UAH and link the Ukrainian bank card and their national one, and phone number to the system account.
Available Driving Areas
You can drive a car around the city but you can only pick it up and drop off at a designated area in the central part of Kiev. This area does not include almost the entire territory of Borshchagovka, Osokorky, Syrets, Vinogradar, Zhuliany, and Sovky.
Future Plans
Taras Getmansky, the head of the company, said that they will need about 3 to 4,000 cars in order make the service fully fledged and convenient for Kiev with a three-million population. GetmanCar plans to expand to other Ukrainian cities like Kharkov, Lviv, Dnepr, Vinnitsa, and Zaporozhye.
